About Us

The West Price Hill Community Council strives to make West Price Hill a vibrant, safe and healthy place to live, work and raise families.cropped-1915-really-fina.png

This has been our mission since our founding in 1915 as the “Price Hill Business Men’s Club” with a mission to “endeavor by mutual effort to promote and further the interests and encourage the general welfare and improvement of Price Hill and its residents”.

In 1945, we became known as the Price Hill Civic Club.  In 1996, our name got another update: the West Price Hill Community Council and restated our mission: “To encourage a positive environment for businesses, family living and raising children.”

We run various improvement, safety and community pride initiatives each and every year including beautification projects, support for the arts, coordination of block clubs, business district improvements, marketing and large community gatherings like the Price Hill Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The Price Hill Thanksgiving Day Parade is a collaborative effort between East and West Price Hill.  Each year, hundreds line Glenway Avenue to watch the parade which starts at Glenway and Ferguson near West High and moves along Glenway east to St. Lawrence Church on Warsaw Avenue.  Many, many volunteers coordinate the floats, cars, tanks, displays, bands and dancers who participate.  At the end of the parade route, a reception is held at St. Lawrence.  We are quite proud of this event, the only Thanksgiving Parade in Cincinnati.

The reception is just as exciting at the parade.  Hundreds of people along Warsaw, stacked 3 and 4 deep move to the lawn at St. Lawrence for the free petting zoo which includes pony rides, chicks, ducks, turtles, a goat and a llama.  Inside the St. Lawrence Hall, choirs perform carols while cookies and hot chocolate are served to the sometimes freezing spectators and parade participants.  Clowns and jugglers perform there for the children as well.  In an adjoining hall, Santa seats himself for photos with each and every child who wants to visit him no matter how long that takes.  Many of the children attend in groups and it seems this is the highlight, for some maybe even the majority of their holiday celebration.  Every single thing related to this event is completely FREE.

The vitality of our community is dependent on grassroots organizations like ours and others that do this work.  We are all volunteer and have no paid staff.  Every single dollar we raise goes directly to support our mission. The West Price Hill Community Council is a 501(c)3 organization for charitable purposes with the IRS.
